How to change the passcode on an iPhone

Follow the steps to set or change the passcode:

 

  1. Firstly, you need to go in the Settings options, and then select one of the following:

 

·        On an iPhone login with Face ID: Tap Face ID & Passcode.

·        On your iPhone Home button: You need to select the Touch ID & Passcode..

       Tap Turn Passcode On or Change Passcode.

 

To see options for generating a password, tap Passcode Options. The best-secured options to create a password are Custom Alphanumeric Code and Custom Numeric Code.

 

Once the passcode is set, you can the option of Face ID or Touch ID to unlock your iPhone (based on your version). For further security, however, it’s always recommended by the experts to enter the passcode to unlock the iPhone in the following conditions:

 

· You can turn on or restart the iPhone.

· You haven’t unlocked the iPhone for longer than 48 hours.

· You haven’t unlocked the iPhone with the passcode in the past 65 days, and you haven’t unlocked it with Face ID or Touch ID in the last 4 hours.

· When the iPhone receives a remote lock command.

· There are five failed attempts to unlock the iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID.

Change when your iPhone gets automatically locked

 

Visit the Settings options > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock, then set a length of time.

 

Need to erase the data after 10 failed passcodes

 

Initially, set the iPhone to erase all media, information, and personal settings after 10 consecutive failed passcode trials.

 

1. Go to Settings, and then implement one of the following:

·        On your iPhone with Face ID: Tap Face ID & Passcode.

·        On your iPhone with a Home button: You need to tap on the Touch ID & Passcode option.

       Turn on Erase Data.

 

Once the entire data is removed, you need to restore the device from a backup or set it up again as new.

 

Turn off the passcode

 

  1. Go to Settings, then do one of the following:

 

·        On an iPhone with Face ID lock: Tap the Face ID & Passcode option.

·        On your iPhone press the Home button: Tap Touch ID & Passcode.

       Tap Turn Passcode Off.

 

Reset the passcode

 

If you enter the wrong passcode continuously six times, then you will be locked out of the device, and you will get a message that says iPhone is disabled. In case you don't remember the passcode, you can erase your iPhone with a computer or with recovery mode, then you will be able to set a new passcode. (If you made a computer backup or iCloud before you forgot the passcode, then you can easily restore the data and settings from the backup.)
